Lupe Anita Munoz, 93, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024.
She was born July 26, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Victor and Austreverta (Alvarez) Rivera. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1948.
Lupe had a strong faith. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a part of the Altar Society as well as volunteering at the Capper Foundation.
She worked for the Topeka State Hospital for 34 years until 1992. During that time she also worked for the Menninger Foundation for 22 years until 2003. After she retired from the Topeka State Hospital and the Menninger Foundation, she worked part time for Mount Calvary Cemetery.
She enjoyed reading, completing puzzles and going to the gym in the mornings. She also enjoyed going to the Dugout to watch Chiefs games with family and friends. Lupe treasured her shopping trips with her sister, Bertha. She also lived for the Sunday lunches with her family. Spending time with her family meant the absolute world to her.
Lupe married Alejandro “Bill” Munoz on the 2nd of February, 1952 in Topeka, Kansas at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Together they shared 62 years of marriage.
Survivors include her sister, Bertha Bermudez and her sons, Michael Munoz, Steven Munoz, Anthony (Gabrielle) Munoz, Robert (Rose) Munoz; 12 grandchildren, Alex Munoz, Estaban Munoz, Trina Tyler, Desirae Lorenz, Michael Munoz, Elaina Munoz, Joseph Oliva, Jason Munoz, Chase Munoz, Regina Bennett, Raeann Byrd, and Regan Munoz; 24 great grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill and her daughter Anita Marie.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS. Vigil will be prayed at 6:00 p.m.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church St. Joseph Church 227 SW Van Buren St. Topeka, KS 66603. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.
