Lucretia Dianne Johnson, 73, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on March 5, 2023 at her home, peacefully surrounded by her family's love. She was born on September 30, 1949, to Simon "Eugene" and Wilma (Kissinger) Smith in Horton, Ks.
She graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka, Ks; Class of 1968. She worked at the Cloverleaf drive-in before starting her career working at Safeway & Food Barn grocery stores. She loved her job working in all the roles. Meeting coworkers & customers. She never met a stranger. She worked there from 1970-1992 before retiring due to store closure.
On April 6, 1973, she married Franklin Johnson. Together they lived in Hoyt, Ks for many years while raising their 3 kids. They later divorced.
She was a beautiful devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, a beloved great-grandmother, loving sister, aunt & friend. She loved spending time with all her family; but had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She loved traveling, taking road trips to Tx, watching & attending the kids church & school activities, playing games, giving treats, always up for any challenge, making memories that will be cherished forever!
She had a love for life and a passion for dancing. She enjoyed spending her weekends at the local dance halls twirling around the dance floor to her favorite country music. She would light up the room with her sweet smile and emminating joy making everyone around her feel at ease.
She loved flowers and sharing the joy of growing them and the occasional strawberry patch with her family. Her appreciation for the natural beauty of the world extended to the birds and animals she loved and cared for most of her life.
She is survived by her children Andrew 'Andy' Johnson (Marta), Shawn Johnson (Christy), & Crystyl (Robert 'Bob') Morse & 2 Step-Son's- Scot Johnson, Ron Holzhuter (Karin), her sisters Barbara Smith (Dennis), Joyce Jones, Donna Edwards (Tony), & Judy Freed. Lucretia has 12 Grandchildren & 5 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Ted and Pearl Kissinger, Simon and Birdie Ryherd Smith, sisters Laurie Smith, Rebecca 'Becky' Shockley, her uncles, aunts, and many cousins.
She has been and will forever be our Angel & now she's an Angel in Heaven, watching over us!
Visitation, Funeral & Reception will all be held at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 N.W. Independence Avenue, Topeka, Kansas.
Visitation-Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Funeral Service-Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11:00 am. Bob Morse will officiate.
Funeral Reception- Immediately following Funeral Services until 2pm in the Reception Hall. The family invites friends & guests attending her funeral, to come together to celebrate & remember Lucretia's life.
Burial will follow the Funeral Reception at Horton City Cemetery, Horton, Kansas at 3:00 pm.
Lucretia's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
