OBITUARY: Lowell W. Koelling
Lowell W. Koelling, 88, Manhattan, died Mon., June 4, 2007, at his home. He was born Jan. 20, 1919, at Robinson, the son of Clarence H. and Esther C. (Ploeger) Koelling. He moved from Robinson to Silver Lake in Nov., 1981, and then to Manhattan in 1994.
Lowell was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Robinson and the Silver Lake Senior Citizens. He farmed and was a truck driver for White Cloud Grain.
He was married to Betty J. Thomas on June 4, 1961, at Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1996.
Surviving are a daughter: Julie A. Martin of Manhattan; a son: John M. Koelling of Jacksonville, FL; a sister: Gladys Lindstrom of Silver Lake; 4 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Committal services will be at 2:00 PM. Thurs., June 7, 2007, at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road, Topeka. Lowell will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wednesday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
