Louis G. Higbie

Louis G. Higbie, 78, of Topeka died Tues., Feb. 8, 2005. He was born April 3, 1926 at Wellsville, Kansas the son of Damon and Thasia Jones Higbie.

Mr. Higbie worked as manager of Star Grain Lumber Co. for 6 years at Princeton, KS. He was area manager at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 33½ years. For 20 years he was in the cattle and farming business at Lyndon and Burlington. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Edwin and Hugh Higbie.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis J. Higbie, of the home, Topeka; a daughter, Kathy Wiles of Topeka; a granddaughter: Kristina Bradfield of Lawrence; a brother: Damon Higbie, Jr. of Wellsville, KS; a sister: Agnes Gifford of Burlington, KS; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Sat., Feb. 12, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Private interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Higbie will lie in state after 3:00 pm Friday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm Friday.
