Lottie Jo Zeferjohn, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on December 27,2024, at the age of 87. She was born on September 27, 1937, and spent her life brightening the hearts of those around her. Lottie graduated from Burlington High School in 1955, a proud moment that paved the way for a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished family connections.
Throughout her life, Lottie held various jobs while traveling with her devoted Marine husband, David Zeferjohn, whom she married on May 4, 1956, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Their journey together took them on countless cruises, creating shared memories as they explored every corner of the world. Her adventurous spirit and joy for life illuminated every room she entered, and her pure warmth made everyone who met her feel like they were part of her family.
Lottie's hugs were renowned; they had a magical ability to provide comfort and solace. She adored cuddling, sharing moments of tenderness with her family that will forever be etched in their hearts. Family meant the world to her, and she took great pride in her role as a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, David and her beloved children, Richard (Tina) Zeferjohn and Debra Jo Nunes. Lottie’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Madison Jo Zeferjohn, Patricia Jo (Jon-Ross) Auwae, Kawika Mark Nunes, and Josie Alexis Treu. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Jaelah Auwae, Jaezel Auwae, and Ross Auwae; nephew Ray (Nikki) Banning; great-nephew Tony (Michelle) Raaf, great-niece Cindy (Jim) Delfelder, and her best friend Loretta Seibel.
Lottie's vibrant personality was matched only by her interests. She enjoyed spending time at the casino, always eager for a little fun and excitement. Her laughter, warmth and incredible spirit will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lottie joins her departed family members in eternal rest, including her father Perry Martin, her mother Martha (Raber) Martin, and her siblings William Martin, Mary Schwindt, Verbenia Vogler, Katherine Smith, and Perry D. Martin. She also reunites with her dear niece Linda, her niece Barbara, each of whom cherished her vibrant presence in their lives.
The impact of Lottie Jo Zeferjohn’s life and love will forever resonate within the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and unwavering devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Lottie; your love and spirit will never be forgotten.
