Lori Ann Guffey (Hare), 59, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
She was born October 17, 1960, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of LeRoy and Carol (Johnson) Hare. She graduated from Seaman High School, the class of 1978. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Washburn University.
Lori started out working as an EMT in her late teens and was one of the first women in Kansas to supervise a construction crew that worked in over 36 states. Lori was employed at Stormont Vail for 31 years, for 14+ years she was the lead respiratory therapist and mentor in the NICU, working for 15 years in pulmonary functions. She also managed multiple rental properties.
Lori was a member of the Stormont Vail Foundation and Rolling Hills Christian Church. She helped teach Sunday school and coached softball.
Lori liked hot air balloons, elephants, pens and mushrooms. She was very artistic and enjoyed photography and drawing. If there was a good deal she could find it and was excellent at picking out and giving gifts. Lori was a true people person and would go beyond her own capability to help others. She loved children and was the self-appointed aunt to many.
Lori was a loyal follower of the Pokemon Go regime (Level 38 Mystic). A special tribute goes to Buddy the dog.
Lori is survived by her husband, Paul Guffey; daughter, Wrylie (Amanda Young) Guffey; son, Jhami (Rachel) Guffey; step-daughter, Kristy (Andy) Richards; step-son, Tommy (Lindsey) Guffey; grandchildren Brogan, Presley, and Cash Guffey and Sawyer Richards; step-mother, Frances Criger; sister, Sondra (Mick) Jones; sister, JoAnn (Greg) DeVader; brother, LeRoy Hare Jr.; brother, Steven (Dorothy) Hare; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol D. Johnson; father, LeRoy Hare, Sr.; brother, James Hare; and brother, Walter Phillips.
Lori will lie in state Friday, June 5, 2020 from 4:30PM to 6:30PM, with a visitation from 6:30PM until 8:30PM at Parker-Price Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 9:00AM at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Rd., Topeka.
