Loree Neil

Loree M. Neil, of Topeka, died October 25, 2009. She was born on March 19, 1921 at Palmer, KS, the daughter of Leo and Della Thoms (Lomeyer). Loree was self-employed and retired in 1984. She enjoyed traveling and volunteering after her retirement. Her first marriage was to W.C. Gates on October 2, 1943. Later, Loree married L.R. Neil who preceded her in death in November 1980. Also preceding was a grandson Michael Loveland, three sisters: Frances Bieker of Salina, Lois Phillips of Topeka and JoAnn Perry of Seattle, WA. Survivors include: son Richard A. Gates, daughter Sherryl D. Beck and sister Margaret Musick all of Topeka, a brother John Thoms of Colorado, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Loree was a member of Seaman Congregational Church and a past member of Gage Park Baptist and Northland Christian. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Loree will lie in state after 3:00 pm Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
