Lola Mae Long, 95, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 in Topeka. She was born June 28, 1921 in Maysville, Arkansas the daughter of Bert and Olive Brown Collins. Her family moved to the Strong City area where she was raised and attended school. She and Clifford moved to the Topeka area and she lived here most of her life. Lola went to work at McGrew’s Grocery Store for a number of years, located in downtown Topeka. She later worked for a at Katz Drug Store, Skaggs and later K-Mart, all in the women’s clothing Department.
Lola married Clifford Eugene Long, Sr. on October 30, 1937 in Emporia. Mr. Long preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Singer and husband Mike of Tecumseh, Vivian Williams and husband Johnnie of Topeka, Clifford Long Jr. of Tecumseh and wife Mary, and Keith Long of Meriden; sister, Silvia Ecton of Wichita, Kansas; and fifteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by two children, Ronda Epp in 1989 and Warren “Dutch” Long in 2011; her daughter-in-law Linda Long, and a son-in-law, Matt Epp.
Graveside services will be 11:30 Friday, June 30 th at Mount Hope Cemetery. Prior to the graveside service the family will receive friends at the Davidson Funeral Home from 10:00 until 11:00 am Friday morning.
