Lois Evelyn Troxel (Walker)

May 28, 1935 — February 17, 2025

Lois Evelyn Troxel (Walker), a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at Plaza West Regional Health Center. She was born on May 28, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of Carl and Charlotte Hirsch.

Lois dedicated many years of her life to her career as a waitress, where her vibrant personality shone brightly. In addition to her professional endeavors, she was a homemaker, nurturing her family and creating a loving home. Lois's journey took a significant turn when she moved from New Jersey to Kansas with her family in her 20s. Their first residence was a farm between Rossville and Delia, where they faced the challenges of rural life, including living without modern amenities such as a bathroom or running water. Overcoming these challenges became a testament to her resilience and adaptability.

The memories of her transition to Kansas remain vivid. A humor-filled anecdote worthy of remembering involves a mishap with a bat while she was fetching something from a shed, a moment that brought laughter and chaos to her household as her husband tried to help her.

Lois was known for her loud and opinionated demeanor, traits that were celebrated by those who loved her. She was determined and sometimes a bit stubborn, but her unique sense of humor and love for conversation endeared her to many. Lois was also deeply passionate about local hockey, often inviting players into her home and treating them like family, showcasing her generous spirit and ability to foster meaningful connections.

Reflecting on her life, Lois was immensely proud of her children: daughter Kathy Christianson; sons Steven Walker, David Walker, and Rick Walker; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She found joy and fulfillment in their accomplishments and cherished the time spent together as a family.

Though she faced losses, including the passing of her husband Harry Walker, her son Craig Walker, daughter Patty Walker, grandson Billy Clayton, and her parents, Carl and Charlotte Hirsch, her spirit and determination never wavered. Lois took great pride in her independence later in life, particularly in her ability to navigate her surroundings confidently, including driving her car outside Rossville.

Lois Evelyn Troxel (Walker) will be remembered for her vibrant personality, unwavering strength, and the deep love she had for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of affection and resilience that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
