Lois Bell Sewell, 91, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015.
She was born March 23, 1923 in Ashdown, Arkansas, the daughter of Newt and Minnie Mae (Kirby) Hudgens.
Lois married William Dewey Sewell in 1946. He preceded her in death in March of 1996. Survivors include two sons, Alvin Downs, Jr. and Dewey "Odell" (Jacque) Sewell; two daughters, Lois "Rita" Hart and Judy Sapp, all of Topeka; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kay Allison in 2000, and four brothers, Raymond, Robert, Eugene and L.D. Hudgens.
Lois was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother. She enjoyed walking, going to the casino, cooking for her grandchildren, and feeding her cats. She was cheerful and giving woman. Her presence and warm smile will be deeply missed.
Lois was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Interment will be at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
