We come together to celebrate the life of Lois M. Conner, a dearly beloved sister in Christ, who departed this earthly realm on October 12, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on January 16, 1927, in the quaint town of Gas City, Oklahoma, Lois lived a life filled with devotion, love, and service. Her presence was a gift to all who knew, radiating warmth and kindness that echoed the teachings of our Lord.
Lois devoted herself fully to her family and her faith, working side by side with her late husband, James D. Conner, who she married on May 4, 1945. Together, they established Conner Tile and Flooring Inc. in 1960, a testament to their shared commitment and partnership in both business and life. After his passing on October 14, 1996, Lois remained a pillar of strength and resilience for her family.
Her legacy lives on through her children: Sharon (Rusty) Smith and Ron (Darla) Conner, along with her daughter-in-law, Melissa Conner. Lois was blessed with six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Through them, her love continues to flourish, filling each heart with cherished memories and the cherished values she instilled.
Lois 's unwavering faith in God was matched only by her love for her family. Every Sunday, she prepared dinner for her entire family, turning the house into a haven of love and laughter. Her home was a loving space where she welcomed everyone with open arms.
Blessed with a vibrant personality, Lois had a delightful sense of humor that brought smiles to countless faces. She was an avid basketball fan and proudly rooted for the Jayhawks. Her athleticism shone through as she received the Gold Best Basketball Player Award in Grady County, showcasing her drive and determination. Amidst her passion for sports, she devoted thirteen years to volunteering at Stormont Vail Hospital, further exemplifying her servant's heart.
Lois is now reunited with her husband, James D. Conner and her son, James D. Conner Jr., who preceded her in death on October 28, 2022, and her beloved siblings, Hobert (Bud') and Sonny Lyon and her parents, Goodrich and Lula Thelma (Richardson) Lyon, in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.
The visitation in honor of Lois will take place at the Central Church of Christ, located at 1250 SW College Ave, Topeka, Kansas, on October 24, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow at Rossville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ Food Pantry.
As we gather to remember Lois, let us reflect on her abundant love and the light she brought into our lives. May her faith inspire us, her humor uplift us, and her legacy of love guide us as we carry her memory forward in our own hearts and homes.
