Lloyd “Ray” Caldwell, age 83, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 at his home in Topeka. Ray was born January 27, 1937 in Poteau, Oklahoma the son of Jim and Ruby Caldwell. Ray grew up in Poteau, graduating from Poteau High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He later served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He married Alyce Folsom in 1964. She preceded him in death May 6, 2020. Ray worked for the Department of Labor as a mine inspector. This occupation required Ray and Alyce to move around a lot, living in various locations. Ray and Alyce moved to Topeka in 1976 where Ray worked and the two would eventually retire.
Ray was preceded in death by a son, Christopher in February of 2019. He is survived by three stepsons Deen (Lisa) Manis of Howe, OK, Buzz (Janelle) Glover of Poteau, OK, and Michael Glover of Tulsa, OK; a stepdaughter, Pamela (Keith) Day of Independence, MO; a sister, Marjorie Argeletta of Heavener, OK; five grandchildren, Melissa (Brian) Reynolds of Independence, MO; Dena Manis of Clearwater, Florida; Jimmy, Josh and Joe Glover in the Denver area, and one great granddaughter, Tallulah.
Cremation is planned. A memorial graveside service is planned in his hometown of Poteau, OK.
