Bud (Lloyd) Dean Langston, 80, of Topeka, KS, died Sunday, August 15th, 2021. Bud was born on July 1, 1941 in Topeka, KS to Lloyd and Ruth Langston. At the age of 17 he suffered a life changing car accident which left him paralyzed for the remainder of his life, spanning a total of 63 years. However, it did not paralyze his sense of humor, which we are eternally grateful for. He completed his GED from Valley Falls High School, and went on to obtain his Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Emporia State University. He worked in this field for 45 years, first for the State of Kansas and later starting his own business of Langston and Associates. Bud was instrumental in advancing the rights of the disabled community in Kansas.
Bud inspired many with his determination and outlook on life. Despite the challenges he faced from his injury, he went on to build a meaningful life and find many joys. Bud married his wife, Rita, on April 29, 1977 and they raised two daughters, Carrie and Tracy. Some of the things Bud enjoyed were restoring classic cars, judging new country music, being ornery, manipulating the truth, spending time with family, rescuing dogs, and entertaining the neighbors with his many misadventures.
Bud was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd, his mother, Ruth and his sister, Shirley.
He is survived by his wife, Rita, his two daughters Carrie and Tracy, their spouses, Aaron and Jeremy, his four grandchildren, Alicia, Foster, Katrin and Harrison, his two brothers, Larry and Mike and their families, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
