Linda Powell Garbe
Linda Sue Powell Garbe, 73, Valley Falls, Kansas, died Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Pioneer Ridge, Lawrence. She was born February 28, 1940, at Wellston, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph Lehman and Hazel Leone (Proctor) Powell.
Linda attended high school at Wellston, Oklahoma and college at Central State University, Oklahoma where she served as the founding Chapter President of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She and her husband operated Ginger Hill Farms of Valley Falls. She owned and operated Off Broadway Accounting. Linda was a member of several Valley Falls bridge clubs and Ducks Unlimited. She had served as President of the Valley Falls School Board and was a member of the Valley Falls City Council. She was active member of the Republican Party and had served on the election board.
She was married to Max Eugene Garbe on August 4, 1962, in Wellston, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Bruce Powell.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Joe and Lisa Garbe of Arlington, Texas and Clay and Angela Garbe of Overland Park, Kansas; and four granddaughters: Grace, Sheridan, Gretchen, and Brooke Garbe.
Linda was cremated. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Kendall State Bank Community Room, 406 Broadway, Valley Falls. Private interment of cremains will be in Valley Falls Cemetery.
