Lillie Mae "Lillian" Rook Harvey
Lillian 75, of Topeka, passed away, April 9, 2006 at Plaza West Care Center after a long bout with Leukemia and Diabetes.
She was born November 3, 1930 in Colony, Kansas the daughter of Claude B. and Ada Ellen Hensley Rook. Lillian was a graduate of Iola High School and Allen County Junior College.
Lillian taught school in Allen and Anderson Counties. Lillian also worked for the Pacific Telephone Company and Southwestern Bell.
She married Andrew Olson December 1952. During his military career he served overseas in several locations and she taught school on the military bases. They retired to Ventura California. They divorced in 1973. She married Ron Harvey in 1985. He preceded her in death. Lillian returned to Topeka in 1987 and worked for Southwestern Bell until her retirement.
Survivors include her son Paul Olson, a sister, Mable Van Dam and her husband Don, a brother, Robert Rook, a niece, Patty Kay Hasty and her husband Will, a nephew, Mike Van Dam and his wife Kathy, three great nephews and one great niece all of Topeka. Several cousins also survive.
Cremation is planned. Private services will be held with inurnment in the Colony Cemetery, Colony, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 SW Buchanan, Topeka, KS 66604. Penwell-Gabel Parker Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
