Lillian E. Pogson, 98, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Aldersgate Village, Topeka.
She was born April 13, 1914 in Mantey, KS, the daughter of Harry Howell and Josephine Matilda (Guyette) Jones.
She grew up in St. Mary's, KS and graduated from St. Mary's High School and Stewarts Beauty Academy, Topeka.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Suzanna Wesley United Methodist Church, Topeka.
Lillian married George L. Pogson on June 5, 1938 in Baldwin City, KS. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Reed, Pawnee, OK and Barbara (David) Comer, Overland Park, KS; 6 grandchildren, Susan (Ron) Boggs, Tulsa, OK, Barbara (Chris) Nykol, Meridian, OK, Deborah (Peter) Bartlett, Lincoln, NE, Susan (Tim) Myers, Claremore, OK, Andrea (Steve) Wilson, Pawnee, OK, and Michael (Jennifer) Comer, San Antonio, TX; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Joseph Jones, Lee's Summit, MO; and a sister, Lois June Delfelder, Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, George Lambert Pogson, Jr; sisters, Pearl McCaul, and Ruby Desch; and brothers, Harry, Robert, Kenneth, Francis and Harold Jones.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gable Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village, 7220 SW Asbury Dr., Topeka, KS 66614.
