Letha A. Smith

Letha Ann Smith, 76, of Topeka passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023.  She was born on April 19, 1947 in Topeka, KS.  She was the oldest of four daughters born to Arnold and Darlene Meyer.  Letha graduated from Topeka High School with the class of 1965.  She worked at Brewster Place and then was a home daycare provider for many years.  Later she worked at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor for fifteen years.  After working at Presbyterian Manor she then went back to what she loved most, taking care of children in her home daycare.  She was married to Robert Treinen and from that union daughter Stacy and son Scott were born. They later divorced and she married Gary Smith on April 16, 1992 at Northland Christian Church.  They were married 31 years.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Smith, children, Stacy Treinen and Scott Treinen; step-children, Tina McComb, Shellie Smith(deceased) and Troy Smith; sisters, Nancy VanHoutan (Phil), Billie Jo White (Merle – deceased), Diana Vance (Larry); four grandchildren, Draven, Macey, Cameron and Logan Treinen; three step grandchildren, Chelsea and Josh McComb, Isaiah Smith; and 11 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
