Lester "Tony" Sorrels, 45, Carbondale, passed away Sun., Oct. 12, 2008. He was born May 6, 1963 in Topeka, the son of Lester "Whitey" Sorrels and Donna Sumner.
Tony married Charleen on July 6, 1996, she survives. Other survivors include his mother of Carbondale; two sons, Travis and Dillon Brown of Carbondale; three brothers, Ed(Barb) Hoffman of Washington, Linny(Mandy) Sorrels of Michigan Valley, and Doug Sumner of Olivet; three sisters Edna Anderson of Scranton, Kitty(Paul) Boydston of Carbondale and Christina(Jim) Hill of Lyndon; seventeen nieces and nephews; and 10 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, H.L. "Tony" and Helen Humphrey, his brother, Eugene Hoffman and his fathers Lester "Whitey" Sorrels and Eugene "Gene" Sumner.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Fri, Oct. 17 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted by Ridgeway Masonic Lodge No. 51 A.F.&A.M., Overbrook, KS. Tony will lie in state from after 3 p.m., on Thurs. Oct. 16 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, Children's Heart Unit, 2401 Gillham, Kansas City, MO 64108.
