Lester Neil Smith Sr.

WILLARD - Lester Neil Smith Sr., 77, Willard, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. Smith worked at the Supply Depot at Forbes Field before he retired. He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Topeka, the son of Ernest and Robena Shively Smith. He was a member of Rossville Christian Church. He married Betty Messick on April 6, 1953, in Marysville. She survives of the home in Topeka. Other survivors include a son, Lester N. Smith Jr., Maple Hill; two daughters, Jeanne Linsey, Silver Lake, and Connie Winter, Payton, Colo.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rossville Christian Church in Rossville. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Smith will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka after 3 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Christian Church, 411 Spruce, Rossville, 66533.
