Leslie Lynn "Bud" King, 83, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home.
He was born August 6, 1930 Wilmot, SD, the son of Otis W. and Elizabeth (Babb) King. He was a 1949 graduate of Wilmot High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Bud was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company from February 1954 until retiring in June of 1991.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 400, Moose Lodge No. 555 and Rubber Workers Union Local No. 307.
Bud married Armina A. "Bert" Kelley on November 2, 1962 in Topeka. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Shelley (Bo) Branch and Gloria (Rick) Henderson, all of Topeka; a son, Mark (Glenda) Kelley, Topeka; six grandchildren, Lance, Talley, Dirk, Cassie, Tyler and Dalton; 16 great-grandchildren(and one expected); three sisters, Donna Devilles, Arizona, Shirley Thompson, O'Fallon, MO and Barbara (Jim) Madison, Browns Valley, MN; and two brothers, Roger (Gayle) King, Melrose, MN and Franklin (Cele) King, Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Beverly King, Alta McNish and Myrna Remund and two brothers, Sonny and Wendel King.
Bud enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events, going to the casino, playing cards with friends, reading, working crossword puzzles and gardening.
Honoring his request, Bud was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Private entombment of his cremated remains will be at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
