LeRoy "Bunny" Hare Sr., 93, passed away January 10, 2020 in Topeka.
He was born on October 18, 1926 in Sycamore, Kansas, the son of Frank and Rozella (Duft) Hare. He spent his youth in Neodesha, Kansas.
LeRoy entered the United States Army in 1946 where he served for a total of six years as a marksman and heavy truck operator. During his service he acquired the Asiatic Pacific Companion, Good Conduct, and WWII Victory Medals.
LeRoy owned Hare Electric for many years, where he worked as a master electrician.
LeRoy enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, tending to his vegetable gardens, taking care of livestock, playing cards, starting water fights and attending area dances.
LeRoy is survived by his sweetheart of twelve years, Frances Criger; three daughters, Sondra (Mick) Jones; JoAnn (Greg) DeVader; Lori (Paul) Guffey; two sons, LeRoy Hare Jr.; Steven (Dorothy) Hare; and Frances' three sons, Rick, Jerry, Frank Hobson and their families. Grandchildren, Stacy Jones; Rachel (Randon) Arney; Lisa (Jason) Edwards; Clint DeVader; Jenna Peters; Whitney (James) Long; Susan Hare; Sarah DePriest; Shelia Hare; Kristy (Andy) Richards; Tommy (Lindsey) Guffey; Wrylie Guffey; Jhami (Rachel) Guffey; granddaughter-in-law-, Katie Hare Poole; great-grandchildren, Trent and Clay Arney; Audi Taeger; Marley Fincher; Gideon Edwards; Jada DeVader; Danielle and Alex Peters; Colton, Westley, and Lilly Long; William DePriest; Mason, Hunter and Ellie Hare; Brogan, Presley, Cash Guffey; Sawyer Richards; sisters, Lorene Newton and Darlene Roets; and a few nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol D. Johnson Hare; son, James Hare; and grandson, Joseph Hare; two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service will be at 2:00p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Parker-Price Chapel. A visitation is will take place an hour prior to the service at 1:00pm. Following the service Military honors will be performed at Prairie Home Cemetery in honor of LeRoy.
