Leo Glenn Swogger, M.D.

Glenn Swogger passed away at his home on August 7, 2021.  He was born on August 28, 1935 in Topeka, the eldest son of Glenn and Isabel Swogger.  After attending Topeka High School, he went to the University of Chicago at the age of fifteen.  Upon graduation, he obtained a medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.  He met Claire, the love of his life.  They married shortly thereafter and moved to New York City.  While in New York Glenn served his country in the US Navy, then moved on to private practice and became a psychiatrist.

Glenn and Claire moved back to Topeka in the early 70’s where Glenn began working at the Menninger Foundation.  In 1982, Glenn became Chairman of the Board for Kaw Valley Bank in Topeka and held that position until 2017.  Glenn and Claire were active supporters of the community and created the Redbud Foundation serving as Foundation president until his death.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Claire, brother John and sister Sylvia.  He is survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Glenn was cremated and a private service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library or Midland Care and sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1035 N. Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66608.
