Don Hiebsch, age 91, of Topeka, passed away peacefully August 23, 2021, at Aldersgate Village. He was born February 10, 1930 to Jennie and Leo Hiebsch in the Grayson community north of Oskaloosa, Kansas.
Don married Leita Smith on July 27, 1951, in Topeka. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1948. He worked in the grocery store industry his entire life. Don enjoyed gardening and tending to his flock of sheep and chickens, and spending time with family.
Survivors include a son, Steve (Rita) Hiebsch and daughter, Lynne (Keith) Pelton. Also surviving are three grandchildren Angela (Craig) McCullah, Jaime (Steve) Schonfeldt, and John Cole, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Don is also survived by three sisters, Marie (Ross) Barton, Kathryn Ortega, Anne Hiebsch, and one brother, Robert (Rosemary) Hiebsch, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Leita Nadine (Smith) Hiebsch, his parents, a brother Francis, and a granddaughter Amy Reser.
Graveside services will be held at Rochester Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday August 30, 2021.
