Leland R. Essman, age 59, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. Leland was born May 2, 1958 in Topeka the son of Vernon and Mildred Boehme Essman. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1976. He worked for St. Francis Hospital for 11 years and later at the Topeka Foundry for over 16 years. Leland enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, auto racing and was a KU fan. He is survived by his mother, Mildred of Topeka; a brother, Byron (Yvette) Essman of Peculiar, MO; two sisters, Karen (Lester) Cooley of White City, KS and Sharon (John) Millard of Topeka and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery. He will lie in state Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. with visitation from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.
