Layton C. Lewis

Layton C. Lewis, 65, of Meriden, Kansas passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023.   He was born January 12, 1957 at the hospital at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka the son of Larry and Marlene Disney Lewis.   Layton’s family moved to California, returning to Topeka when he was eight.   He attended Highland Park High School.

On May 9, 1980 he married Laura Crow at the Rose Garden at Gage Park.

He worked at Frito Lay from 1989 until he retired in 2022.  Layton was a truck driver at Frito Lay.

Fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, working on cars were all things he enjoyed.   Layton enjoyed NASCAR and demolition derby.  He also helped build and finish his home and his kids’ homes as well.   Layton and Eric put in a pond at his home in Meriden so everyone could go fishing at home.  He loved his family and his kids and grandkids where very important to him.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Lewis of Meriden; son, Eric Lewis and wife Samantha of Grantville; daughter Kristi McCall and husband Harold of Topeka; and brothers and sisters which include Maureen Weatherby in California; five grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kaylee, Chase, H.D. and Cassie; great grandkids, Keegan, Bonnie and Hattie.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice; parents, Marlene and Larry; and father-in-law Bob.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 12 ^th at Davidson Funeral Home.   Cremation will follow.    Graveside inurnment service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 14 ^th at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35 ^th and Menoken Road.   Memorial contributions may be made to Cheyenne, Kaylee and Chase Lewis Education Fund.  Please make checks payable to Laura Lewis.
