Lawrence Meinhardt, 83, of Topeka, passes away Sunday, December 9, 2018.
He was born May 15, 1935, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Mabel (Koontz) Meinhardt. He graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1952.
Larry was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 45 years as a payroll clerk.
Larry married Betty Ann Meinhardt on June 6, 1958. She preceded him in death in 1979. Survivors include children: Nancy (Rick) Turpin and Steve (Dana) Meinhardt, brother; Joe Meinhardt, grandchildren: Dylan Turpin, Zachary Turpin, Ashley (Issac) Brunell, and Joseph Martin, 5 great-grandchildren, and past spouses Wanda and Mary.
Larry enjoyed playing senior sports. He was one of the original founds of the senior softball league. He also enjoyed watching the Royals along with other local sports teams.
He was a past treasurer for the local chapters of the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks and National Association of Retired and Veteran Railroad Employees. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Parker-Price Reception Center, 1940 NW Central Ave., Topeka, Kansas, 6608.
