Lawrence L. "Larry" Juedes Jr.

Lawrence L. "Larry" Juedes Jr., 76, Topeka, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at McCrite Plaza. He was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Ellsworth, the son of Lawrence and Hattie J. Bartunek Juedes Sr. He graduated from Berryton High School. He was a machinist at Santa Fe Shops. He owned and operated Larry's Tax Service from 1964 to 2000. Mr. Juedes was a member of North Topeka Baptist Church for more than 40 years. He currently was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He loved gardening and baseball. He restored automobiles and trucks. He married Leida P. Amegin on June 9, 1972, in Topeka. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin L. Juedes, on June 5, 1982. Survivors include his wife, Leida P. Juedes, Topeka; two sons, Steven C. Juedes, Allenspark, Colo., and Kurt L. Juedes, Topeka; three stepdaughters, LeAnna Hickman, Oskaloosa, Kathy Washburn, Topeka, and Nida Imhoff, Topeka; a brother and sister-in-law, Dwayne and Shirley Juedes, Grantville; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Juedes will lie in state after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church for the Missions Fund, 4011 N.
