LaWanda Esther (Mildfeldt) Lemon, 76, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
She was born on July 23, 1945 in Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of William and Margarette (Harrison) Mildfeldt, and was one of 22 children. After growing up and attending school in Clay Center, she moved to Topeka, where she worked as a nurse, chef assistant, and at the famous Ira Price Cafe before meeting and marrying Max Edwin Lemon on January 4, 1974, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2004. She was a long-time member of the Central Church of Christ in Topeka, had a wide knowledge of plants and flowers, and enjoyed crocheting and taking care of her dog, Marie.
She leaves behind and will be missed by a son, Max Lemon, Jr., Maple Hill;
a daughter, Margarette Lemon, Overland Park; three brothers, Kenneth and Ernest Mildfelt; Topeka; Forrestine Mildfeldt, Minden, NE; two sisters,
Cellestine Newman, Humboldt; Mae Ann Gertsch, Airway, WA; and three grandchildren, Josie, Imani, and Max III.
Graveside services will be Monday, August 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Maple Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made directly to the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka.
