Laurie Lynn Hanvy-Newport, 38, Morton, Wyo., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, in Morton. She was born Dec. 15, 1964, in Topeka, the daughter of Doyle E. and Josephine A. (Ditch) Hanvy, Sr. Laurie was born and raised in Topeka and graduated from Seaman High School. She had worked in several nursing homes in Topeka. She lived in Perry for several years before moving to Wyoming three years ago. Although being many miles away and family stressing her to come home, she still strived to be successful. In doing so, she proudly ran and owned Stage Stop Bar and Saloon. She married Tim Newport on April 17, 1993, in Perry. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Armintha J. Ditch. Survivors include her husband, Tim Newport, Perry; a daughter, Amanda K. Newport, Topeka; parents, Doyle E. and Josephine A. Hanvy Sr., Topeka; maternal grandfather, George R. Ditch Jr., Topeka; paternal grandmother, Mae Maddux, Alto, Texas; mother-in-law, Alice Newport, Perry; two sisters, Melissa D. Wilson and Doyse J. Keller, both of Topeka; two brothers, Darrell J. Hanvy and Doyle E. Hanvy Jr., both of Topeka; sister-in-law, Michelle Biggs, Perry; brother-in-law, Mike Newport, Overbrook; grandson, Joseph X. Newport, Topeka; and a host of other family and friends. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery in Topeka. Laurie Lynn Hanvy-Newport will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary after 5 p.m. today, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Laurie Lynn Hanvy-Newport Memorial Fund and sent to 1900 N.W.
