Lauren H. Mummert
Lauren H. Mummert, 85, Topeka, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Presbyterian Manor. He was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Topeka, the son of James and Pearl Baker Mummert. He graduated from Topeka High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Mummert worked 29 years for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the 91st Bomb Group Memorial Association, Goodyear Retiree Club and Rubber Workers Local No. 307. He married Dorothy Oldham on Nov. 26, 1948, in Overbrook. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Kathyrn Mummert, Denver; a sister, Glenda Oquillkuk, Wichita; and a grandson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. Mr. Mummert will lie in state after noon Sunday at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Northland Christian Church, 3102 N.W.
