Laura "Jean" Christensen

December 18, 1931 — May 5, 2022

Laura “Jean” Christensen, age 90, passed away at the Brookside Manor in Overbrook Thursday, May 5, 2022.  She was born December 18, 1931 in rural Riley County, KS the daughter of Lawrence and Ruth (Nohlen) Peterson.  Jean graduated from Cleburne High School.  She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life.  She married Marion L. Lane, they later divorced.  She then married Donald L. Christensen; he preceded her in death.  Jean was a longtime resident of North Topeka.  She enjoyed crafts and was a wonderful seamstress and a pastry chef, as well as a life-long member and officer of the Women of the Moose Lodge #1091 and was a Past Senior Regent of the Topeka Chapter and a Past Deputy Grand Regent for the State of Kansas, providing countless hours of service volunteering and serving meals.

Jean is survived by a son, Rex (Elizabeth) Lane of Atchison; a daughter, Kerye (Allan) Jackson of Topeka; two sisters, Shirley McClure of Overland Park, KS and Carolyn Toburen of Topeka; three grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) McEwan, Laura (Christopher Liverman) Lane and Catherine (Steve Familo) Lane and two great grandsons, Lane and Cole McEwan.
