Larry Dale Webb, born on December 17, 1946, in Doniphan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. He was a man whose life was woven with hard work, dedication, and a deep commitment to his community and family.
Larry's early years were spent working on a farm, where he developed a strong work ethic. He later moved to Topeka, where he made significant contributions to various local businesses including Bob's Janitorial and Cardinal Cleaning. Eventually, he became a paraprofessional for USD 501, riding on buses with high school students and positively impacting their lives.
Education was not just a phase for Larry; it was a lifelong pursuit marked by his experiences growing up in Missouri and engaging at every opportunity to learn and grow. His commitment to learning was reflected in his active participation at North Rock Baptist Church, which later merged with Heritage Baptist Church. He was deeply involved in church activities, helping with men's breakfasts and Bible study.
Larry enjoyed a variety of hobbies that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. A longtime member of Mission Towers, he looked forward to playing cards on Mondays and Wednesday days, while Tuesday evenings were reserved for Bingo. Friday and Saturday nights brought him camaraderie, as he joined in on game nights, forming bonds with friends and creating joyful memories while often being the only man in attendance.He was an avid collector of hats and anything John Wayne related. He loved listening to country western and gospel music. He cherished holidays like Independence Day, Easter and Christmas , demonstrating his love for family and tradition. He also had a strong sense of patriotism that resonated deeply within him.
Larry leaves behind loving friends, including Nancy G. Lester and Linda "Gayle" Burress, who cherished him dearly. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" Roseanne Williams and Carol Louise Chastain, along with numerous nieces and nephews who brought him pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Opal L. (Needlels) Webb, father Guy Webb, and siblings who departed before him, Lovella Edith Cooper, Guy "Sonny" Edwards, Ella Mae Daughtery, Robert Eugene "Gene" Webb, Edwin Ralph Webb, David Leroy Webb and Rose "Rosy" Marie Milburn.
Family and friends are invited to honor Larry's memory during visitation on April 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Parker-Price & Davidson, located at 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1517 East 15th Street, Lawrence, KS, at 3:00 PM.
Larry D. Webb's legacy of kindness, service, and friendship will always be remembered.
