OBITUARY: Larry W. Myers

Larry Warren Myers, 63, Topeka, died Sat., May 23, 2009, at Stormont-Vail Hospital's ER. He was born Oct. 5, 1945, in Topeka, the son of Warren L. and Alice M. (Ready) Myers.
Larry served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 39 years of service.
He was married to Joyce G. Walker on Aug. 21, 1970, in Topeka. She survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, April Dawn Myers, on Feb. 16, 2007.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Joyce, are a daughter and son-in-law: Lori and Mark Dutton of Topeka; grandson: Gavin Dutton of Topeka; brother and sister-in-law: Gary and Susan Myers of Topeka; mother-in-law: Velma Walker of Topeka; sister-in-law: Linda Walker of Topeka; and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wed., May 27, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. A Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors at Rochester Cemetery. Larry will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Road, Topeka, KS 66617.
