Larry Treadwell, 76, of Topeka, joined his recently departed wife Annette on February 28, 2021, on what would have been their 53rd anniversary.
He was born on October 30, 1944 in Plainview, Texas to James and Lillian Treadwell, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Eugene Lee Treadwell of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
His beloved wife Annette preceded him in death February 15th of this year. The family takes great comfort in knowing that they were together on their anniversary. Like Annette, Larry was a long-time member of The Topeka Round Up Club and loved his two horses Rocky and Lizzie.
Larry proudly served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War where he was in the Brown Water Navy (PBR) with his fellow River Rats. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
HIs sense of humor was his greatest gift to all who knew and loved him, and it never faltered even at the very end. His positivity helped him in his arduous fight against the cancer that would ultimately win.
Larry is survived by his brother Steve Treadwell (Kristine) of Tucson, Arizona, daughter Shelley Flores (Greg) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, son Chris Treadwell (Wendy) of Duluth, Minnesota, grandchildren Bjorn Atts of Dallas, Texas, Erica Atts of Carrollton, Texas, Kayla Flores of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Tasha Treadwell of Duluth, Minnesota, nephew James Treadwell of Ventura, California, niece Kari Ruehlen (Ryan) of Tucson, Arizona and niece Katrina Nicholas (Christopher) of Burlingame, California.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Parker Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, Kansas. Military honors by the U.S. Navy will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. All of his friends are welcome to attend. Honoring his request, cremation is planned after the celebration of his life.
