Larry L. Purdie, 78, Harlingen, TX, formerly of Lecompton, KS, he went to be with his Lord & Savior on Monday, July 1, 2019.
He was born July 17, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Buford and Judy (Gregory) Purdie.
Larry was employed with DuPont/Flexel for 29 years. He later worked for Huhtamaki, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Combs Baptist Church in Combs, TX.
Larry married Glenda F. Thompson on June 7, 1959 in Topeka, Kansas. Other survivors include: daughters, Kimberly (William) Perry, Goddard, KS and Rhonda (Timothy) Bishop, Olathe, KS; sister, Joyce Ann (Joe) Kowalczyk, San Marcos, TX; six grandchildren, Sharon Thomas, Shane Perry (fiancé, Keree), Kyle (Jordan) Perry, Abigail Bishop (fiancé Ryan), Emily Bishop and Maddison Bishop; eight great-grandchildren, Trever Thomas, Jace Thomas, Lily Thomas, Cole Thomas, Jaddeen Hise, Hendrix Litton, Gabriella Perry and Knova Perry.
Larry enjoyed playing his guitar and had a passion for music. He was an MC for the Music Jam at Sunwest Retiree Mobile Home Park in Harlingen, TX. Larry also participated in reenactment and community theater.
Visitation will begin at 1 pm, Monday, July 8, 2019 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Topeka Cemetery. Pastor Steven Weist with Combs Baptist Church will officiate the service.
