Larry D. Peterson, 80, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Larry was born November 27, 1942 in Topeka. He graduated from Seaman High School. He started his truck driving career at the age of 16 for his father. After driving for his father he completed barber college. He continued with his barbering career until 1972. He returned to truck driving for CF (Consolidated Freightways) and worked there for 30 years, retiring in 2002.
He enjoyed building and flying ultra-light aircraft. He took pride in competing in truck driving rodeos. Many enjoyed his artistic talent. Boating was his passion. He loved spending his weekends out on the lake on his boat teaching many to water ski over the years. Earning the title of "The CAPTAIN". He loved travel with family and friends. He also enjoyed Sunday Football with family and friends watching KC Chiefs football.
His family and friends remember Larry's huge heart, undying loyalty, quick- wit and orneriness.
Larry married the love of his life, Therese Dolifka on May 10, 2003, she survives. Other survivors include his son, Wayne Peterson, daughter, Paula Morehead (Joey), three granddaughters Lauren Peterson (BJ), Melissa Peterson (Craig) and Kara Coltrin (Michael). Two adorable great grandchildren Raegan and Mavrick Coltrin. Two sisters Bev Williams (Stan) and Kaye DeHart. He is survived by his two beloved fur babies, Sasha and Mason. They will really miss dad!
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Bonilee (Wilson) Peterson, and brothers Karl Peterson and Neil Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Larry's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
