Larry Phillip McGilton, 57, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015.
He was born March 31, 1957 in Topeka, the son of Henry Philip and Melba LaMoine (Woodward) McGilton. He was a graduate of Seaman High School.
Mr. McGilton was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and later Santa Fe Railroad before retiring in 2006.
He was a member of Fireman and Oilers Local Union No. 1086.
Larry married Susan "Sue" Nonken on September 15, 1979 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include three children, Justin (Kassie) McGilton, Megan (Gary) Dunmire and Mindy (Scott) Turner; six grandchildren, Evan and Ryder McGilton, Aaron Dunmire, Marcus Annett and Aadeyn Dunmire and Colton Turner; his father Henry (Peggy) McGilton; and two sisters, Kathy (Clyde) Holscher, all of Topeka and Joy McGilton and her friend, Karen Bethurem, Overland Park, KS.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Melba McGilton and a sister, Marie McGilton.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Larry will lie in state after 5 p.m., Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sue McGilton.
