Larry G. Moore, Sr., 71, of Topeka, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 25, 2014.
He was born December 6, 1942, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Clarence Earl and Norma Lucille (Cripps) Moore. He was a 1960 graduate of Topeka High School. He was honorably discharged from the Navy 1966.
Larry was the owner of Moore's Cycles and cofounder of C & L Scales. He retired from the City of Topeka as a machinist.
Larry married Sally Jane Lister on October 20, 1984 in Topeka, Kansas. Larry is survived by his wife; two sons, Larry (Patsy) Moore, Jr., San Antonio, TX and Jerry (Deana) Moore, Topeka; a daughter, Heather (Jason Ortiz) Moore, Topeka; two step-daughters, Tammy (Kevin) Rafferty, Spring, TX and Angela (Bobby) Brandon, Mt. Vernon, MO; nine grandchildren, Ashley Moore, Andrew Moore, Abby Moore, Jerry Moore, Jr., Brooke and Kody Moore, Joshua Moore, Asia Ortiz, and Arisa Ortiz; two great-grandchildren, Alexa Moore and Mya Williams; and two sisters, Sherry Lynn and Merry (Steve) Bocquin, all of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry Moore and a sister, Barbara Moore.
Larry is best remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a devoted husband, and friend to many. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life such as motorcycle racing and gardening, but fishing was by far his favorite. He caught some BIG ones in his time. They say the best time to go fishing is when you can get away. He is now free to go get the "Catch of his life."
The family will meet at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014, to go in procession for a 10 a.m., graveside service with military honors at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Larry will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
