OBITUARY: Larry Eugene Brooks
Larry Eugene Brooks, 70, Silver Lake, died Tues., Sept. 25, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. He was born Aug. 15, 1937, at Linwood, the son of Samuel Remington and Agnes Veronica (Spacek) Brooks.
Larry attended Silver Lake grade and high schools and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. Larry retired from Southwestern Bell after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church and affiliated with Bethel Community Church; a life member of the American Legion; and a member of the AFL-CIO. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and race car fan.
He was married to Kay Frances Mumma on April 30, 1962, at Lyndon. She survives of the home.
Also surviving are a son: Scott Joseph Brooks of Topeka; a daughter and son-in-law: Melinda Ann and Dan Farris of Silver Lake; 2 brothers: George J. Brooks of Silver Lake and Sam R. Brooks of Nevada, MO; 2 sisters: Dorothy M. David of Bradington, FL and Marcia L. Anderson of Silver Lake; and 3 grandchildren: Christopher Farris with the U.S. Navy, Brooks Farris of Silver Lake, and Dani Farris of Silver Lake.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM, Sat., Sept. 29, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Private entombment will be in Rochester Cemetery.
