OBITUARY:
Kenneth Theodore "Ted" Fuqua
Kenneth Theodore "Ted" Fuqua, 87, Topeka, died Fri., Jan. 18, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 16, 1920, at Pomona, the son of Charles S. and Elizabeth (Conrad) Fuqua, the youngest of 13 children.
Ted had farmed; worked construction for M.W. Watson; and delivered furniture for Ed Marlings from 1951-61. He started working for USD 501 in 1961, later becoming head of mowing and maintenance, retiring in 1985. For 40 plus years he devoted many hours to garage sales and flea markets, retiring in 2005. Ted worked for Crews Auction for 40 years, setting up and working ring, retiring in 2000, at the age of 80.
He was married to Sarah Faye Bond on Feb. 23, 1941, at Michigan Valley. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter Patricia L. Hildebrandt of Topeka; a son : Melvin D. Fuqua of Glendale, WI; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM, Sat., Jan. 26, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery. Ted will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 PM, Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Park Christian Church, 1535 SW Clay, Topeka, KS 66604 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.
