Kenneth E. "Ken" Oldridge, 69, of Topeka, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018.
He was born May 13, 1949, in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of Cleon and Marjorie (Pittman) Oldridge. He graduated from Powhattan High School, earned his Bachelor's from Kansas State University and Master's degree from Emporia State University.
Ken taught at the Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex in Topeka retiring after over 40 years of teaching. After retirement, he continued to substitute teach and taught online school through Greenbush.
He was an active member of Faith Family Life Center and also served on the church board. He was a part of the Governor's Prayer Team and volunteered at the Topeka Rescue Mission.
On December 23, 1999, he married Rita Joyce Zellers in Topeka, KS. She survives. Other survivors include his son, David (Candace) Oldridge, Topeka; step-son, Cory (Sara) Zellers, Dodge City; step-daughter, Kylie Zellers, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; brother, Jim (Elaine) Oldridge, Hiawatha; nephew, Chad (Stormi) Oldridge, Oregon and niece, Tarasa (John) Gardner, Kirksville, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ken was an avid bowler. He was very involved with bowling leagues and tournaments.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Faith Family Life Center, 3710 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Ken's family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka.
