OBITUARY: Kenneth Neil Smith, Sr.
Kenneth Neil Smith, Sr., 65, Topeka, died Fri., June 9, 2006, at his home. He was born Oct. 15, 1940, at Independence, MO, the son of Harley B. and Doris Ellen (Cox) Smith.
Kenneth graduated from Silver Lake High School. He had farmed in the Silver Lake area and was a service technician for Kodak and Danka. He was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church.
He was married to Carol Lou Henry. They later divorced. He was married to Marilyn F. McCall on Sept. 4, 1965, at Topeka.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn F. Smith, of the home; a daughter: Kendra Kirk (Shawn) of Brussells, Belgium; 2 sons: Kenneth "Neil" Smith, Jr. (Kim) of Sweet Water, TN and Gregory Alan Smith (Nancy) of Topeka; a sister: Linda Viar of Council Grove; a brother: Carnie Smith of Nashville, TN; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tues., June 13, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka. Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery. Kenneth will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
