Kenneth “Ken” Lehew, 88, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
He was born October 26, 1935, in Atchison, Kansas, the eldest son of LeeRoy and Frances (Myers) Lehew. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1953. He later joined the United States Army and served his country during the Cold War.
Kenneth married Judith "Judy" Ann Lehew on August 14, 1960 in Nortonville, KS. They welcomed three daughters, Dawn, Sheli and Mitzi.
Ken worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka, Kansas, for over 30 years until his retirement.
He was a founding member of Rolling Hills Christian Church of Topeka, and was a past elder of the church. He was also a member of the United Rubber Workers Local 307.
Ken enjoyed collecting coca cola memorabilia and classic cars, and owned a 1958 Chevy Impala. He was the best grandpa and supported his grandchildren through all of their school activities, sporting events and life achievements. Ken loved to read his bible every day. He enjoyed Thursday and Friday morning coffee and Sunday lunch with his friends. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed being outdoors, sitting on his porch and tending to his rose bushes. He also enjoyed traveling with Judy and camping with his girls.
He is survived by his wife, Judith "Judy" Lehew; daughters, Dawn (Lloyd) Reed, Sheli (Mark) Sweeney and Mitzi (Dan) Dodds; grandchildren, Austin (Amanda) Reed and Katherine Sweeney; siblings, Robert (Robin) Lehew and JoAn Noll; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clifford Lehew.
His family will greet relatives and friends beginning at 9:30am on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Rolling Hills Christian Church, 4530 NW Hiawatha, Topeka, KS 66618. A funeral service will follow at 10:00am. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Nortonville Cemetery in Nortonville, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Rolling Hills Christian Church.
