Kenneth Franklin Wells, Jr, 65, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014.
He was born May 5, 1948 in Bolivar, Missouri, the son of Kenneth Franklin and Mary Pauline (Brown) Wells, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Bolivar High School.
Mr. Wells was employed by Kone Elevator Company for 38 years, retiring in 2007.
He was a long-time member of Topeka YMCA.
Kenny married Claudia Jean Lowery on July 1, 1967 in Bolivar, MO. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Kevin (Deb) Wells, and Kurtis (April) Wells; six grandchildren, Noah, Hayden, Konner, Ella, Owen and Korbin Wells, all of Topeka; a sister, Gayla Painter, Bolivar, MO; a brother-in-law Allen Jarman, Raytown, MO; a sister-in-law, JoAn (Dave) Tadlock, Loveland, CO; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Joan Turpin and Peggy Jarman.
A funeral ceremony will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2014 at Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka. Kenny will lie in state from 4 to 9 p.m., Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kuehne-Thomas Branch of the YMCA, 1936 NW Tyler St, Topeka, KS, 66608.
