Kelly Jeanene Yoder, 64, of Topeka, peacefully passed away on March 24, 2023 at Midland Care surrounded by those who love her.
Kelly was born on September 29, 1958 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended Perry-Lecompton High School and later ventured out west to Colby Community College where she met and made some incredible (and forever cherished) lifelong bonds.
After college, Kelly went on to be successful in a multitude of different professions. One of these opportunities moved her to Oklahoma where she met her match, Billy Max Yoder. They married in Kansas on December 3, 1983, during a blizzard, which made for some good stories to laugh about later.
Jet, Oklahoma is where they began their journey and built their family, beautifully blending Bill's son, Golden T into their new life together. Bill and Kelly soon added two little girls to the mix. Jet quickly became Kelly's home as Bill's family and friends welcomed her with open arms where Bill ran the family business, Yoder Gas Company.
The Yoder home was always welcoming. The door was always open, and it wasn't uncommon for her to come home and find the party had already started with friends welcoming her with a cold beer and food, the Yoder way!
During the summer you'd find Bill and Kelly up at "3 miles north" at the Great Salt Plains Lake with the boat and a campground party or at the Himes cabin with all the kids in tow.
Kelly uncovered a passion for stained glass art while remodeling their home and was offered a position at Stained Glass & More in Enid, Oklahoma. She created some of the most incredible stained-glass pieces which were placed into area churches, businesses and private homes, as well as in her own. Later, Kelly set up a small home studio and expanded her knowledge to include glass blowing and sandblasting. In her spare time, she loved creating and gifting pieces for friends and family.
Kelly is survived by her bonus son: Golden T Yoder of Woodward, Oklahoma; daughter: Donni Jo (Connor) Sabel of Topeka, KS; granddaughters: Cora Rae Sabel, Chloe Jo Sabel, and Billie Lorayne Yoder.
She was preceded in death by both parents: Donna Jean (Hart) Roberts and Franklin "Frank" Ewton; sister: Tracy Roberts; husband: Billy Max Yoder; daughter: Chelsea Rae Yoder.
Celebration of Kelly's Life will be held at the Perry Legion on May 21, 2023 from 4pm – 6pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care in Kelly's name.
