Kathleen L. "Katie" Lister Byrd, 35, of Carbondale, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013.
She was born September 13, 1978 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Jack D. and Theresa Ann (Carson) Lister. She was a 1997 graduate of Seaman High School and received an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from University of Phoenix.
Katie was employed by various banks most recently worked for Washburn Tech.
Katie married Dan W.L. Byrd on November 9, 2013 in Missouri. He survives of the home. Other survivors a step-son, Lukas Byrd; two sisters, Laura (Chad)Williams, Ozawkie and Melanie (Wes) Ditch, Topeka; a brother, Joshua (Ashley) Lister, Topeka; nieces and nephews, Amanda Rice, Hunter, Mollie and Howard Williams and Jhonen Lister. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ryan J. Lister.
Katie enjoyed traveling, crime mysteries, baking, painting, scrap booking, reading, arts and crafts and sporting events.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, 2014 NW 46th St, Topeka, KS 66618. Cremation will follow the mass. Katie will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd, Topeka, KS 66604.
