Katherine “Kathy” Inez Stowers, 79, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 in her home.
She was born March 11, 1945, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was the daughter of Furl and Dorothy (Baney) Todd. She went to Plato High School.
Kathy will be remembered for her baked goods. Everyone loved her cookies, cakes, and especially her pies. There wasn’t anything that she couldn’t bake and it always tasted absolutely delicious.
She enjoyed being outside in her garden and took pride in the beautiful flowers she grew. Kathy also treasured spending time fishing with her husband and grandchildren. At Christmas time she enjoyed blessing family members with one of her homemade quilts.
Kathy was a faithful member at Heartland Worship Center for many years and loved helping with the children’s church.
Katherine married Robert “Bob” Stowers on May 29, 1969, they shared 51 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2020.
Kathy is survived by two daughters, Sharri Stowers and Angela (Ron) Bower, both of Topeka; siblings, Sandy (Wayne) Tawny, Linda (Danny) Vest, Jane Rodgers, Dave (Susie) Todd; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Stowers, in infancy, and Steve Eckstein.
Cremation is planned. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson, 234 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. The family will greet friends thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will take place at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka.
