Katherine A. Essman

Katherine “Kathy” A. Essman, age 83 of Grantville, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital. Kathy was born September 21, 1935 in Topeka the daughter of Glenn and Verna Brown Metzger. Kathy graduated from Seaman High School in 1953. She married Raymond “Pete” Essman April 16, 1954 in Topeka. Kathy worked at Hallmark Cards in Topeka of over 33 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Grantville United Methodist Church where she was active with the XYZ Club. Her and Pete enjoyed square dancing at Perry Square. They also belonged to the Moose Lodge. She is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Raymond “Pete” Essman; two sons, Jimmy (Ronda) and Richard (Angie) Essman, both of Grantville; four grandchildren, Ryan Essman, Justin Essman, Michelle Garlock and Christina Saeugling and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. She will lie in state Thursday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Grantville Cemetery.
