Katera Mayfield

Katera was born November 13, 2001, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Kristina Benham and Nick Mayfield. She passed away October 22, 2023, near Carbondale, Kansas. She attended Rochester Elementary school and Seaman High School, where she played basketball. She was on an AAU basketball team, Ohlde Elite. She had the amazing opportunity to travel to London, England, to play basketball for America’s Team. She was a very talented player and a joy to watch.

Katera was also a talented artist. She had a picture picked for the Art Walk at Fairlawn Plaza while in 9th grade. She has several tattoos, she drew all of them, and she tattooed five of them herself. She loved the outdoors, running, biking, and drawing.

Katera had expressed in the past that she wanted people to wear their favorite colors to her funeral because she loved color.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bessie Miller, and grandfather Andrew Mayfield.

She is survived by her mother, Kristina Benham; her father and stepmother Nick and Bobbi Mayfield; her grandmother, Joyce Jones; her brother Zane Johnson; her niece Noelle Sparks; her sisters, Hailey Mayfield, Salina KS, Emerald Mayfield, Fort Worth TX, and Jazmyn Christie and her daughter Jazlynn, Topeka KS; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was loved and will be missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29th, from 5-7pm at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N Kansas Avenue, Topeka. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, October 30th, at 11am. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Katera was an avid artist and had a passion for both art and animals.
