Karen Kay Hildebrandt, 79, of Rossville, passed away on November 27, 2022.
She was born on July 23, 1943 to Thomas and Gladys (Lee) Huffman in Washington, Kansas.
Karen graduated from Washington High School in 1961. After graduation she worked in a small diner, where she later met her husband Verlen. Together they married on August 6, 1961 and began their family. Together they had two children.
Karen enjoyed crafting, doing many woodworking, ceramics, and embroidery projects. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them all the time. Karen worked at Rossville Jr. High and the grade school and enjoyed spending time with all of the children. She also was very involved in nursing, working as a CMA for many nursing homes in the Rossville and Topeka area. Karen was a woman who cherished her own time, when she was ready to leave, out the door she went. She touched many lives with her giving heart, and will be greatly missed by all.
Karen is survived by her children, Lorrie (Timothy) VanDruff and Michael (Caroline) Hildebrandt; siblings, Donis Woods and Sharon Werner; grandchildren, Zachary Corber, Matthew VanDruff, and Staci VanDruff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlen; both of her parents; siblings, Thomas Huffman, Betty Boerger, Doris Szopenske, Cora Lee Rahe, Barbara Madsen, Mary Lou Huffman and Janet Hollmann; grandchildren, Lucas Frantz and Samantha Coffee.
Graveside inurnment will take place on Friday, December 9, 2022 11:00 am in the West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
